Flights and Transfers for Tilos

General Flight Information

Departures/arrivals are on Wednedays only.

Flights to Rhodes on Wednesdays are available from a number of regional airports – please let us know which is your nearest airport when making a booking.   Please bear in mind that flights from smaller regional airports may be more expensive but this may be less than the expense of traveling to Gatwick or Manchester and staying in a hotel there and paying for parking.  

Flights are booked on-line at the time of booking and may vary in price – particularly in high season or popular departure dates – I will always try to get the best price for you and ensure that the flight time will be in time for the boat departure.   Occasionally flight times may change – usually this is not a huge change and will not affect your holiday.

In-flight meals are included except where specified.

Check-in is two hours prior to departure.

Dietary Requirements

If you require a vegetarian meal or have any other special dietary requirements, please let us know at the time of booking and we shall pass your request on to the airline.   However, please note that these are requests and cannot be guaranteed.

Luggage Restrictions & Info

As a general rule, try to keep your luggage as small (and light) as possible.   You are responsible for taking your own luggage on and off the boat and in some cases part of the way to your accommodation.  Tilos is very informal and hairdryers, kettles & irons are supplied in all accommodation and books can be left in the library if you have read them.

At present luggage restrictions for charter flights are as follows:-   one item of hand luggage only no larger than :

56 cm/22inches tall                     45 cm/17.7inches wide                         25cm/10 inches deep

Liquids should be packed in luggage for the hold wherever possible.   Any liquids carried in hand luggage must be in containers no larger than 100ml which must be carried in a transparent resealable bag. 

Luggage for the hold should weigh no more than 20Kg per person.

Lounges & Twilight Check-in

At Gatwick Excel Airways (any XLA flight number) operate a twilight check-in which is open from 1600 to 2200.   All passengers traveling must be present at check-in and the service is free.   Please note that this service is not available for those who are collecting tickets on departure.

At some airports you may be able to book a lounge away from the crowds (cost around £17.95per person) with complementary drinks (not champagne) and snacks.   So you can relax in more congenial surroundings before starting your holiday.

Transfers from the Airport to Tilos

You will be met at the airport by a Little Island Representative who will advise you of the details of your transfer.  As we will be meeting many different flights this year, there may be a short wait before your minibus/coach departs.   If this is the case, we shall advise you so you may make use of your time.   

 On arrival at the harbour in Rhodes, you will be able to stow your luggage aboard the boat  and then enjoy free time in Rhodes before sailing.     Your Little Island representative will be able to advise you of prevailing weather conditions – if you suffer from sea sickness please carry a remedy with you from the UK and don't forget to take it at least one hour prior to departure.  

If weather conditions are poor and we are prevented from sailing, we shall arrange a hotel on your behalf but please be aware that the expense of this will be your own.  We shall keep you informed of the next available crossing.   Thankfully since the introduction of the island's own boat, Sea Star, this is a rare occurrence.

When boarding the Sea Star, please have your Confirmation Invoice with you. Most importantly – TRAVEL  LIGHT!
